On the afternoon of August 5, Tien Phong newspaper – the organizer of the Miss Vietnam contest – made a decision to handle the public smoking scandal of Miss Ky Duyen.

Talking to VnExpress, Ms. Pham Kim Dung – deputy head of the contest’s organizing committee – said that although the scandal about Ky Duyen’s public smoking incident occurred on July 11, it took the organizing committee nearly a month.

The fact that Miss Ky Duyen was not accompanied to the final round of this year’s competition does not mean that the program turned its back on her.

`This is a decision that has a great impact on Ky Duyen’s life as well as her family during this period. The level of reprimand given, in my opinion, is moderate, humane, reasonable, and enough to help her.`

Miss Vietnam organizers hope the audience will give Ky Duyen a chance to demonstrate her change.

From the incident of Miss Ky Duyen, the organizers send a message to young girls participating in the Miss Vietnam contest.

The Miss Vietnam organizing committee also confirmed that runner-up Huyen My will not replace Ky Duyen to crown the new beauty queen in the final night on August 28 in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the representative of the organizing committee, during the two years holding the beauty queen crown, Ky Duyen fulfilled her role relatively well.

Before the decision to punish her by the Miss Vietnam Organizing Committee, Ky Duyen chose to stay silent.
