The President was welcomed by Vietnamese representatives in the US at Andrews airport.

US Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear, representative of the US Department of State, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong, staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the US and the Vietnamese community in the US were present at the airport.

At the meeting with the President and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong expressed his honor that President Truong Tan Sang took the time to pay attention and visit right after arriving in the US.

President Truong Tan Sang acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the US.

President Truong Tan Sang stated that in the coming time, the positive, friendly, constructive partnership, multifaceted cooperation, mutual respect and mutual benefit between the two countries will be upgraded.

Relations between Vietnam and the United States pose new requirements, requiring embassy staff to constantly make efforts.

President Truong Tan Sang visits the US from July 24 to 26 at the invitation of President Obama.

In nearly two decades since normalization, relations between Vietnam and the US have developed comprehensively in many fields.

Since 2005, the US has continuously held the position of Vietnam’s largest export market with export volume increasing more than 100 times in less than 20 years.

There are currently about 16,000 Vietnamese students studying in the US, double the number in 2008, bringing Vietnam to the top in Southeast Asia and 8th in the world in the number of students studying abroad in the US.
