The talks took place within the framework of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s official visit to India from October 27 to 29.

At the talks and meetings, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed their commitment to comprehensively develop the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed India’s greater role in the region and the world, supporting India’s look east policy as well as its policy of connecting all aspects in the region.

The two sides reached a high consensus on directions and measures to develop bilateral relations, especially in the fields of politics, economics, defense and security, science and technology and culture and education.

The Prime Ministers of the two countries highly appreciated the rapid development of bilateral economic relations in recent times, considered strengthening economic cooperation a strategic goal, emphasized the need to further improve the effectiveness of economic cooperation,

Vietnam and India also agreed to continue promoting defense and security cooperation, strengthening practical cooperation in the fields of science and technology, culture and education, maritime connectivity, and promoting tourism cooperation.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the leaders of the two countries agreed on the importance of ensuring peace, stability, security, and maritime and aviation safety in this area.

Vietnam highly appreciates the stance on the East Sea as well as India’s commitment to cooperate in oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf in the East Sea.

On the afternoon of October 27, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung privately received leaders of Indian political parties.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung today also had a meeting with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee before returning home in the evening of the same day.
